RIDE IN PROGRESS is a short film written by Emily Hanley & April Moreau
When the kind-hearted, semi-nerdy, and always-prepared Sarah gets blindsided by a breakup, she finds herself utterly alone, having spent the past four years neglecting every relationship other than the one with her loser boyfriend. She reaches out to the only person she can think of, her messy-but-loveable friend Megan and, together, they embark upon the post-breakup Uber trip of a lifetime.
MEET THETEAM
APRIL MOREAU director•writer•producer
& EMILY HANLEY writer•producer Emily Hanley & April Moreau have been writing comedy together for five years-- half the length of time that they’ve been platonic lovers. It all began back in ‘09 when Emily toured the University of Michigan theatre department, where April was a sophomore, hitting the books hard for classes such as “Movement” and “Yoga for Performers.” On the day they met, April lent Emily a “slutty club top” to wear out that night, and the rest is history. Emily & April’s theatre degrees led them to Los Angeles, where their acting careers instantly soared. They were fighting off offers left and right, with April booking roles in several criminal reenactment shows and Emily starring in a low-budget, unbought Mormon pilot. Since then, April has also appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Emily has a mini stand-up special coming out on Amazon, but the aforementioned credits are their pride and joy. Both of these women have daddy issues, but that’s not the only reason they’re funny! April is an alum of The Groundlings, so she’s a pro at wearing wigs and writing character-driven comedy. Emily has performed stand up all over this great nation, so she’s quite the “punch up queen.” They’ve both studied and performed at UCB, so they own a lot of plaid shirts and fake glasses. The duo’s female-driven sketch comedy has been featured on the homepage of Funny or Die, Elizabeth Banks’ WhoHaha, and in some very cool feminist corners of the internet. When they’re not writing, they can be found on the hunt for any straight-ish man in West Hollywood. HUNTER GULAN director of photography
